2010 Men's Hockey World Cup
The 12th Field Hockey Men's World Championship was held in New Delhi from 28 February to 13 March 2010 at Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Named after Dhyan Chand Stadium offers 20,000 spectators. The official name of the tournament was BDO Hockey World Cup Men 2010. There were twelve teams in first two groups and then in placing matches against each other. A total of 38 matches have been completed. World champions Australia was by a 2-1 final victory over Germany.

Qualification
They were eligible to the five reigning continental champions.
Moreover, were the Vice-European Champion, Germany, and the EM- third (Netherlands), the EM- Fourth (Spain ) and the host, India, directly qualified.
The remaining three starter courses were awarded through three qualifying tournaments, which were held in 2009. Here, Pakistan, New Zealand and Argentina qualified for the tournament.
Qualifying tournament in Lille
The tournament was held from 31 October to 8 November 2009 in the French city of Lille instead. Tournament favorite and world champion Pakistan prevailed in the final against Japan and qualified for the final tournament.

Qualifying tournament in Quilmes
The tournament took place from 14 November to 22 November, 2009 the Argentine city of Quilmes instead. Hosts Argentina prevailed in the final against the in the world rankings to a place better -placed Belgium and qualified for the final tournament.

Qualifying tournament in Invercargill
The tournament took place from November 7 to November 15, 2009 in the New Zealand city of Invercargill instead. Hosts New Zealand established itself as world ranking of eight top seeds through in the final against Malaysia and qualified for the final tournament.

Participant
Germany, the Netherlands, India, Pakistan and Spain have so far qualified for every World Cup. England, Argentina and Australia so far could only once does not qualify for a World Cup. For New Zealand, it was the eighth, for Canada and Korea, the fifth and the fourth for South Africa to participate.

The groups were divided according to the rankings of the World Hockey Association FIH.
