Tournament schedule

In mid-November 2009, a tournament schedule is published on the WSOP website briefly, which was removed after a short time. From Harrah's Entertainment was provided to a public opinion. The official tournament schedule was announced on 23 December 2009, which coincided almost identical to that previously published. Like last year, there was to win 57 bracelets, including 12 championship events (including 10 open ). But there was another event with addons, a rebuy tournament did not take place as in the previous year.

The first major change was that there will be no $ 50,000 HORSE event more. Instead, it has offered the so-called The Poker Player's Championship with a buy-in of $ 50,000. It was an eight -game tournament, with the addition HORSE nor the variants No-Limit Hold'em, Pot-Limit Omaha and 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball were included in the rotation. The final table No-Limit Hold'em was exclusively played and there was for the first place winners in addition to the bracelet and the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy win. The most expensive buy-in for a HORSE tournament was the new $ 10,000 HORSE Championship event.

Were deleted, the Stud High, Stud Hi- Low Split -8 or Better and Omaha Hi -low Split -8 or Better tournaments with an average buy-in, so that for these tournaments only versions with $ 1,500 and $ 10,000 remained. This decision was negatively received by many players because this is the characteristic variety at the World Series of Poker in favor of no-limit hold'em is abandoned. Also, the championship event in the discipline Mixed Hold'em ( No-Limit/Fixed-Limit ) has been deleted. It also eliminates the offered in celebration of the 40th World Series of Poker $ 40,000 40th Annual No-Limit Hold 'em tournament. To compensate for No-Limit Hold'em / Six Handed tournament was a $ 25,000 performed.

The deletion of the less popular tournaments are open 5 more $ 1,000 No-Limit Hold'em added to the tournament schedule, which, took place at the successive weekends during the World Series, and one on July 1. They tried so to connect to the success of last year, held $ 1,000 Stimulus Special, in which 6102 players lined up the record for the largest field for a non -Main Event tournament. Especially for professional poker players these low-limit tournaments ( $ 1,000 and $ 1,500 ) less profitable, since a larger starting field, the lower number of big blinds, and in this year of 9 increased to 10 percent Entry Fee ( Eintrtittsgeld ) these strengths can play less.

After the year before the starting day 1D of the Main Event was sold out and had to be turned around 500 players, July 4 (Independence Day in the United States) has been declared as the only day for the rest day. Thus, the starting days 1A to 1D fell on July 5 to 8.

Tournament schedule

The tournaments were designed for each 3 game days. Exceptions to this were the events 3, 13, 24, 36, 47 and 54, each with two first match days and a duration of 5 days ( 4 game days), Event 57 ( Main Event ) with 4 first and 2 second match days and a duration of 14 days ( 10 days game ), event 1 with 2 match days, event 52 with 4 game days and event 2 with 5 game days.
