2010 World Team Table Tennis Championships

The 55th World Table Tennis Championship for teams took from 23 to 30, 2010 in Moscow instead. Venue was the 30,000 -seat sports complex Olimpijski.

In the men's China defended with a final victory over Germany the title. In the women's Singapore won the final against China. Previously, China had at the World Cup last time in 1991 ( against total - Korea) and before 1973 ( against South Korea) lost a team fight. Germany Women's reached the semi-finals and thus brought bronze, the first medal after 1997. With this result, Germany was the most successful European nation.

111 national associations were represented and presented 109 men's and 81 women's teams.

Competition mode

The competition format is exactly the same as at the last World Cup. 24 teams compete in four groups against each other. The group first comes into the quarter-finals, the second last sixteen.

Cutting off the Germans

Gentlemen

Coach was Richard Prause. In Group C, Germany, Denmark, Spain and Croatia defeated each with 3-0. After a 3-2 win over Japan and a 3-1 win against Hungary, won the first place and was thus qualified for the quarter-finals. Here the team defeated Russia 3-0. In the semi-final against Germany put South Korea by 3-1, and thus came the final, where it met with China.

Timo Boll succeeded after 0-2 behind to win against Ma Long and brought Germany in the lead. Ma Lin got with a smooth 3-0 against Dimitrij Ovtcharov the equalizer. In the following game led by Christian Suss won first set against Zhang Jike in the second set already 9:5. However, he still lost with 1:3. Ma Lin took after the victory point against Timo Boll.

Ladies

The German women were trained by Jörg Bitzigeio and Eve Jeler. The team competed in Group C and began the occupation Wu Jiaduo Kristin Silver iron, Elke Schall. After a 3-0 victory over the United States followed the game against the reigning European champions the Netherlands. Despite 0:2 residue Germans still won 3-2. After the subsequent 3-1 victory over Spain Elke Schall could no longer be used because of a back injury. In the remaining games, therefore, the only 17- year-old Sabine Winter was used. In the fourth round, the team stood at 0-3 to Singapore at a loss, it was possible not only set win. After the 3-1 win over Czech Republic Germany came in Group C in second place and thus had to compete in the second round.

Here was drawn against an opponent Romania. Here Sabine Winter contributed by defeating Bernadette Szocs in a 3-1 success. Also in the quarter-final against Hong Kong scored against Zhang Rui winter. With 3:1 Germany moved into the semi-finals, where they met the eventual champions Singapore again. Only Kristin Silver iron can win two sets against Wang Yuegu, the battle is lost with 0:3.

Petrissa Solja received at the World Cup nomination preference over Zhenqi Barthel, but did not play.
