2011–12 Copa del Rey
The Copa del Rey 2011/12 was the 108th edition of the Spanish Football Cup Copa del Rey.
The competition started on August 31, 2011 and ended with the final on 25 May 2012 at the Estadio Vicente Calderón in Madrid. Defender of the cup competition was Real Madrid. The title was won by FC Barcelona a 3-0 victory in the final against Athletic Bilbao. Since Barcelona in the 2011/12 season in parallel secured the participation in the UEFA Champions League, the starting place for the Europa League 2012/13 Athletic Bilbao fell to.
The surprise team of the Cup season was CD Mirandés. The third division continued in the course of the competition and others against the first division side Villarreal, Racing Santander and Espanyol Barcelona through and moved as one to the semi-finals, before being eliminated against Athletic Bilbao. In addition, Mirandés Pablo Infante put with the top scorer of the competition.

Mode
Main article Copa del Rey
The tournament is played as a knockout system. The game is played in the first three rounds in only one game - in a draw is with extension, if applicable penalty shoot a decision sought. From the round of 32 games will be played in home and away matches. In the Copa del Rey, the same rules apply as for UEFA competitions ( away goals ). The final will be played in a game that looked the winner in a draw through extra time and penalties. Youth and reserve teams of clubs that are eligible to play in the Copa del Rey, are not permitted.
Some teams are exempted from certain rounds:
- In the first round the teams play Tercera División and the Segunda División B.
- In the second round of the main teams in the Segunda División come to the clubs Segunda División B and Tercera División added.
- In the third main round these teams play from the opponents of the first division.
- In the Round of 32 teams in the Primera División are added.
- In the Copa del Rey working with byes in the first round, to get to an even number of participants.
First Main Round
For the first round of the competition 44 teams that División in the 2011/12 season in the Segunda B and the Tercera were playing División, qualified. The draw took place on August 3, 2011 as all the other draws in the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas de Madrid. There have been drawn 18 pairings and awarded eight byes. In this case, the pairings for the second main round were determined.
The matches were played on 31 August 2011.
Byes: RSD Alcalá, Cádiz FC, UE Sant Andreu, CD San Roque, Albacete Balompié, CD Roquetas, Orihuela FC and Deportivo Alavés.
Second Main Round
In the second round of the main teams from the Segunda División entered in the competition.
The matches were played on September 6th, 7th and 8th 2011.
Third main round
The matches were played on October 12, 2011.
- Real Oviedo received a bye.
Round of 32
In the Round of 32 came to the eleven winners from the games of the third main round and Real Oviedo, which received a bye, the teams from the Primera División. The draw was held with five Lostöpfen on 14 October 2011.
First, the teams an opponent randomly assigned from Pot 2 in Pot 1, the remaining teams from Pot 1 then an opponent from Pot 3 It was then drawn against the teams of special pot 1 an opponent of special pot 2 and then the pairings from the other clubs were the Primera División determined.
The first legs were played between 9 November and 13 December, the return legs on 20, 21 and 22 December.

Second round
The draw for the pairings for the second round was held on 23 December 2011. Here also the pairings were determined for the further rounds.
The first legs were, the return games played on 3, 4 and 5 January the 10th, 11th and 12th January 2012.

The first legs were, the return games played on 17, 18 and 19 January on the 24th, 25th and 26th January 2012.
