2011–12 Ekstraklasa

The Ekstraklasa 2011/12 was the 78th season of the top Polish football league of gentlemen since its founding in 1927. The season began on 29 July 2011 and ended on May 6, 2012. Altogether sixteen clubs participated in the 2011 / 12 part. Titleholder was Wisła Kraków, was able to win a total of three tenth Polish championship in the previous year. Promoted from the second Polish league were ŁKS Łódź and - for the first time in the club's history - Podbeskidzie Bielsko- Biala.

Course of the season

Overall, the season was an exciting and balanced season. Many teams played for the championship with. This is evidenced by the number of different leaders. Four teams ( Korona Kielce, Lech Poznan, Legia Warsaw and Slask Wrocław) were league leaders, a total of eight league leaders was replaced by another club. Two games before the end of the season still had six clubs ( Korona Kielce, Lech Poznan, Legia Warsaw, Polonia Warsaw, Ruch Chorzów and Slask Wrocław) calculated the opportunity to be champion. On 28 Round stand with Cracovia Krakow laid the first relegated. On 29 Round stand with ŁKS Łódź firmly relegated to the second. In addition, the league leaders Legia Warsaw after a defeat nor of Lech Poznan, Ruch Chorzów and the new league leaders Slask Wroclaw was ousted. The decision for the championship was thus on the final day. 6 May 2012 Google then made Slask Wrocław by a 1-0 away win against last year's champion Wisla Krakow the championship perfect. Ruch Chorzów and Legia Warsaw, who also both won their games, were second and third respectively. Lech Poznan was in fourth place after a draw. The biggest disappointment was certainly last year's champion Wisla Krakow who does not mitmischte in the Master battle. The club was only in the middle of the league. Biggest surprise was promoted and freshman Podbeskidzie Bielsko- Biala. On the 27th matchday of the club has already made the non-relegation perfect.
