2011–12 FA Cup

The FA Cup 2011/12 was the 131st edition of the world's oldest football cup tournament; The Football Association Challenge Cup, or FA Cup. This Cup season began with 763 clubs.

The cup competition was launched on August 20, 2011 with the Extra Preliminary Round and ended with the final at Wembley Stadium in London on May 5, 2012. The winner of the competition was the Chelsea.

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Can participate, each team that has a given level of performance and has an adequate pitch. The game is played i.d.R. with only one leg. When draw a second leg takes place. The return game also ends in a draw the game goes into extra time and penalties. This mode goes up to the sixth main round. From the semi-finals, there is only a game, if necessary, with extra time and penalties.

Some teams are exempted from certain rounds:

  • In the second qualifying round, the teams of the Conference North / South (6th flight of English league operations ) are added.
  • In the fourth qualifying round, the teams of the National Conference will be added (5th flight of English league operation ).
  • In the first round the teams in the League 1 and 2 Football League ( 3rd and 4th flight of the English league operations ) are added.
  • In the third main round on the first weekend of January, the teams of the Football League Championship will be added (2nd flight of English league operation ) and the Premier League ( first division of the English league operation )

The semi-final matches will be on neutral ground, the final at Wembley Stadium.

Each winner receives a premium from the television money, which is graded according round.

Main Round

First Main Round

In the first round enter each of 24 teams in the Football League One and Two in the competition.

The draw for the first round was held on 30 October 2011. The Games were held from 11 to 23 November 2011.

Second Main Round

The draw for the second major round took place on November 13, 2011.

The games were completed on 2 December 2011 to 14 December 2011.

Third main round

In this round, the teams enter the FA Premier League (20 teams) and the teams of the Football League Championship (24 teams) in the competition.

The draw for the third main round took place on December 4, 2011.

The games were completed on 6 January 2012 to January 18, 2012.

Fourth Main Round

The draw for the fourth main round took place on 8 January 2012.

The games were completed on January 27, 2012 to February 8, 2012.

Fifth Main Round

The draw for the fifth main round was held on 29 January 2012.

The games were completed February 18 to March 7, 2012.

Sixth Main Round ( Quarterfinals )

The draw for the quarter-finals took place February 19, 2012.

The games were completed on the 17th, 18th and 27th March 2012.

* In 41 minutes Fabrice Muamba of Bolton Wanderers suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the pitch. The game was subsequently canceled by referee Howard Webb and repeated on 27 March 2012.

Semifinal

The draw for the semi-finals took place on March 18, 2012.

The games were completed on the weekend of 14th and 15th April 2012.
