2011–12 Superleague Greece

The Super League 2011/12 was the sixth season of the highest Greek league for senior football. The championship was played under 16 clubs. The regular season began on 27 August, 2011 and ended with the 30th Round on April 22, 2012. Thereafter found to 20 May the playoffs for the international launch sites instead. The clubs Panetolikos, PAS Ioannina and OFI Crete solved Panserraikos, Larissa and Asteras Tripolis, which relegated the season 2010/ 11, from.

It was not fixed for a long time, whether and with which teams play time would be played. A betting scandal caused uncertainty. Several teams that had in the past season qualified for the competition, was denied a license. Once in the course of the betting scandal and the two clubs AO Kavala and Olympiakos Volos had relegated to the fourth Greek league was started with 13 clubs in the new season. Asteras Tripolis, who remained top notch thanks to the withdrawal of licenses from Iraklis Thessaloniki threatened due to a match-fixing suspicion of temporary relegation to the second Greek league. Play-offs

Panathinaikos qualified as winners of the playoffs for participating in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. Originally had reached only the second and third place (different ) qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa League. However, since Atromitos Athens had reached the final of the Cup, and the opponent Olympiakos was already qualified as a master for the Champions League, there has been a shift, so that should also rise to the fourth- placed team in the Europa League.
