2011–12 Swiss Cup
The 87th Swiss Cup was held from 16 September 2011 until 16 May 2012. Defending champion was the FC Sion, which failed in the semi-finals on FC Luzern. FC Basel won the Swiss Cup for the eleventh time by a final victory against FC Lucerne.
The mode
Ten teams of the Axpo Super League and 15 clubs in the Challenge League were right for the Swiss Cup qualifies ( is not eligible to play in the Challenge League, FC Vaduz, who participated in the Liechtenstein Cup). These met with 13 clubs from the 1st League and 26 clubs from the amateur leagues. This must qualify for the Swiss Cup in regional selections.
It was played in the all-in - system. Each round had to take place within a maximum of two days under normal circumstances. The final was played at the Stade de Suisse in Bern.
1/32-Finals ( 16 to 18 September 2011): 64 teams, the winners are qualified for the 1/16-Finals.
1/16-Finals ( 15 and 16 October 2011): 32 teams, the winners are qualified for the knockout round.
Last sixteen ( 26 and 27 November 2011): 16 teams, the winners are qualified for the quarter-finals.
Quarter-finals ( 20 and 21 March 2012): 8 teams, the winners are qualified for the semi-finals.
Semi-finals ( 11th and 15th April 2012): 4 teams, the winners will qualify for the final.
Final (16 May 2012): The winner is awarded the 87th Swiss Cup.

The teams of the Axpo Super League and the Challenge League could not meet. Teams from a lower league had home advantage.
Second Round
The teams of the Axpo Super League could not meet. Was a team in a lower league, this was the home advantage, otherwise the erstgezogene team. The draw took place on 19 September 2011.
Last sixteen
As far as possible been avoided that teams from the Axpo Super League clashed. Was a team in a lower league, this was the home advantage, otherwise the erstgezogene team.

Semi-finals
The semi-finals were held on April 11 and 15, 2012. The encounters were drawn, everyone could meet everyone. The team that was drawn first, got the home advantage.
Final
The final match took place on 16 May 2012. The venue was the Stade de Suisse in Bern.
