2011–12 VTB United League

VTB United League 2011/12 season was the third regular season of basketball league VTB. At the VTB United League season 2011/12, involved 18 teams from 9 countries. The representative Finnalnds, it would be the 10 participating country has failed in qualifying. The qualifying matches were played in September and October. The season began on October 6, 2011 and ended with the finale on May 3, 2012 in Vilnius in the home arena of the club Lietuvos Rytas. The winner was the third time CSKA Moscow.

Qualification

Although the number of participants was again increased, the number of people interested in VTB United League was higher than the number of possible participants. So a qualification was played in the 2011/12 season for the first time. First, two groups of 3 played in the mode everyone against everyone a round. The top two of each round qualified for the final round of qualifying. The Qualifying rounds were all discharged from September 27 to October 1, 2011 in the Lithuanian Šiauliai.

In the final round the two top finishers played each from groups A and B is a simple round each against all, and the results of the games were played over from the group stage.

Group stage - Regular Season

In this first phase, the 18 teams will split into two groups in both home and away games against each other. Each team completed 16 games. The two group winners will qualify directly for the Final Four. The teams ranked 2-4 play the remaining two places in play -off mode.

In the second round, the third placed teams from the regular season play against the fourth placed teams from the other group. The winners meet in the quarterfinals to the second group stage. The winners complete the Final Four field.
