2011 All-Africa Games

The Pan-African Games 2011, the 10th edition of the Pan-African Games and took place from 3 to 18 September 2011 in Maputo, Mozambique instead.

Award

In April 2005, Lusaka, was established the capital of Zambia as host of the Pan-African Games in 2011 by the African Sports Council at a meeting in Algeria. A year earlier, Ghana had found a possible application in view, but do not realized .. In December 2008, Zambia resigned as host of the Games, as financial problems made ​​an implementation in the country impossible. Eight months later, in April 2009, Mozambique declared for hosting the Games ready.

Venues and infrastructure

Since Mozambique had agreed to host the games, only about two and a half years prior to the appointment, to provide short term, had some sports, for which there is insufficient competition venues were available, are excluded from the games.
