2011 Australian Open – Men's Singles
Men's singles of the Australian Open 2011.
In the final, Novak Djokovic prevailed in three sets against Andy Murray. This was his second triumph at the Australian Open (since 2008 ) and also his second Grand Slam title overall. Murray, however, remained in his third Grand Slam final without further set win. The set at position 1 Rafael Nadal was surprisingly eliminated in the quarter- final against David Ferrer, while defending champion Roger Federer had lost in the semi-final against Djokovic. Other surprises of the tournament were the twenty -year-old Milos Raonic, who reached the second round as a qualifier and it hit a total of 94 aces, and Alexander Dolgopolov, who defeated the at position 4 set Robin Soderling in the second round and reached a grand slam quarter-final for the first time.
