Routing and conditions

The paddock was set up in the Dead Sea Centre directly at the Dead Sea. The ceremonial start took place in the 50 km northern capital of Jordan, Amman. The stages consisted partly of sand and rubble contaminated paved roads in the desert, but mostly from gravel- littered with different sized stones, narrow and twisty roads in the desert. The 14 special stages on 15 and 16 April with a total length of 259.56 km were launched on schedule. The planned total length including liaison stages was 1008.89 km. The paddock with the service zone was located close to the deepest point of the Earth (which is not covered with water). The special stages were discharged with partially above 40 ° C in the shade, in the desert of Jordan to the Dead Sea. The highest passage of a special stage was just over 1000 meters above sea level. Most parts of the rally but were below zero in the sea level down to the Jordan Valley ( well 420 m below sea level ) instead. This made the rally to an unusual enrichment in the list of World Rally Championship rounds. Since all stages were at the service park relatively close and also the first stage was canceled, it was also one of the more compact rallies in the world championship.
