2011 NBA draft

The NBA Draft 2011 was conducted on 23 June 2011 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. In two rounds of the 30 NBA teams were able to secure the rights to a total of 60 junior players. Since the league than 1 July 2011, a " lockout " imposed and the season 2011/ 12 is starting late, the players could not change immediately in the NBA. Some therefore signed contracts in other leagues.

The final draft order for the items 1 to 14 was determined on 17 May 2011 by the Draft Lottery. At this weighted lottery took the 14 teams that had not qualified in the 2010/11 season for the play- off round, and some have been set in reverse order of the Table of the Regular Season. The drawing won the Cleveland Cavaliers, who had acquired this pick from the Los Angeles Clippers, followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Utah Jazz, whose pick was from the New Jersey Nets.

All players who wanted to register for the draft had, regardless of their degree be born before the end of calendar year 1992. If they were not " international player " and was also at least one year between her high school graduation and the start of the NBA season 2011/12 had to lie.

In the first place of the draft Kyrie Irving was from Duke University, selected before Derrick Williams and Enes Kanter. The Draft also set up a record: Six out of seven of the first players that have been drafted, were born outside the United States, three in Europe.
