2011 Prime Yalta Rally

The Prime Yalta Rally 2011 was the fourth round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge 2011. The rally was held from 2nd to 4th June 2011.

Background

The Prime Yalta Rally 2011 was the first time the calendar for the IRC. The paddock was in Yalta on the Crimean peninsula. The program consisted of 14 special stages, including two on the first day and six on the following two days. Overall, led the rally over 459.74 km of which 261.87 counted. Hazards was on paved roads. At the rally came to 43 starters, including 15 Super 2000 cars. 24 teams crossed the finish line.

Course

On the first day sat Thierry Neuville in the Peugeot at the top. Škoda 's Juho Hänninen pilot conceded a 10- second penalty for a jump start and consequently fell slightly.

Neuville extended his lead at the start of the second day continues. In WP4 were Andreas Mikkelsen, Per- Gunnar Andersson and Guy Wilks tire damage and Karl Kruuda of slowing brakes thrown back. In the subsequent examination of the previous leader Neuville lost after a spin about two minutes. Then came a duel between Hänninen and Bryan Bouffier, who initially took the lead, but they had to give to Hänninen little later. The next pursuers had the day end already a backlog of over a minute.

On the third day of the duel between Hänninen and Bouffier was continued for victory. While Bouffier still approached to within a few seconds Hänninen in the morning, sat down this afternoon again slightly. At the end Hänninen was 11.7 seconds ahead of Bouffier and won the rally. In the battle for third Jan Kopecký won against Mikkelsen.

With his victory Hänninen took the lead in the championship.
