2011 Proton Malaysian Open

The Malaysian Open 2011 is a tennis tournament that will take place in Kuala Lumpur from 26 September to 2 October 2011. It is part of the ATP World Tour 2011 and will be held in the indoor hard courts. In the same week the PTT Thailand Open will be played in Bangkok, just like the Malaysian Open belong to the category ATP World Tour 250.

The defending champion in singles, Mikhail Youzhny, not stepped up to defend their title. In this year's final, Janko Tipsarevic and Marcos Baghdatis face. Last year's double winner Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertiňák also were no longer together. However Cermak was again able to achieve with his new partner Filip Polášek the final, where they meet Eric Butorac and Jean -Julien Rojer.

The field of individual petition consisted of 28 players, double that of the petition of 16 pairs. The four top-seeded player in singles each got a bye into the second round.
