The seventh stage of the Tour de France 2011 on July 8, led about 218 km Le Mans to Chateauroux. On the flat stage, there was a sprint, but no climbs. As on the previous day were still 194 of the 198 registered riders at the start.

Race course

Yannick Talabardon undertook shortly after starting a successful escape attempt. Mickael Delage and Gianni Meersman followed him shortly afterwards Pablo Urtasun. The intermediate sprint won Mickael Delage out of the leading group in the field, Mark Cavendish won against Jose Joaquin Rojas. The reduced falls by the peloton caught the breakaway few kilometers from the finish again. The HTC team headed for Cavendish in the sprint, who won his second stage in this Tour de France and asserted itself against Alessandro Petacchi and Andre Greipel also attacking.
