2011 Tour of California

The 6th Tour of California took place from 15 to 22 May 2011. For the second time this cycle race was extended in May. The stage race was divided into eight stages and over a distance of 1231.8 kilometers. The tour was part of the UCI America Tour 2010 and classified in the highest category there 2.HC.

Participating teams

At the start were 18 professional teams, including nine of the highest international class, the ProTeam. In addition, four Professional Continental teams and five US-based Continental teams were invited by the organizers.

Route

The first leg of the tour around Lake Tahoe was canceled due to snowfall after the organizers had originally shortened the stage. The second stage was therefore reduced by about half, the start was moved from Squaw Valley to Nevada City. Therefore, the total race distance was reduced to 949.2 km. After the first two flat sections was made on the fourth, only 131 km long stage a mountaintop finish in San Jose (1st category).
