2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 43rd World Gymnastics Championships in gymnastics took place from 7 to 16 October 2011 in the Japanese city of Tokyo instead. For the women, who may participate since 1934, it was the 33 title fights. The competitions were held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. These World Championships presented the first direct qualification for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London dar.
Despite the tense situation due to the Tohoku earthquake and the subsequent nuclear disaster in Fukushima, the Executive Committee of the Federation FIG gymnastics world has decided in consultation with the World Health Organization to conduct the World Championships in Tokyo. Previously, concerns about the alignment was expressed by several national associations.
