2011 WTA Tour Championships

The WTA Championships 2011 (also known as TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships - Istanbul 2011 known ) are a hard court tennis tournament for women in Istanbul, Turkey and count toward the four Grand Slam tournaments to become the fifth major tennis tournament of the year. The tournament was held until October 30, 2011 at the Sinan Erdem Dome on 25. The Tennis Championships WTA Tour in women's singles and double were played for the first time in Istanbul, after being the year before in Doha, Qatar.

The Belgian Kim Clijsters in the individual and the Argentine- Italian duo Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta in a double were the defending champions.

Qualification

The top eight ladies of the WTA Tour qualified for this competition. In addition there were two reservists.

Competition mode

In the round-robin tournament phase (English Round Robin ), played four players in two groups each against all. The two winners of each group qualified for the semi-finals, which was held after the knockout system. The winner of each group played against the second of the other group and the winners of these games contested the final.
