2012–13 Czech Extraliga season
The season 2012/13 was the 20th regular hosting of the highest Czech ice hockey league, the Tipsport Extraliga. Reigning champion was the HC Pardubice. Since the BK Mladá Boleslav in the early season in the relegation Master of the 1st league, the Piráti Chomutov, was defeated, the club was replaced by Chomutov in the Extraliga.
The championship of the League of Škoda Plzeň HC secured by a 4-3 win over PSG Zlín in the Finalserie.Aufgrund a license sale of HC České Budějovice increased in July 2013 from the 1st League and was replaced by the Mountfield HK.

Mode
In 52 games, all teams play against each other four times each, each team throughout the season 26 home and 26 away games. The teams ranked 1-6 qualify directly for the play-offs, which will be played in best-of- seven- mode. The teams ranked 7-10 play the other two playoff spots in the best-of -five from each other. The remaining four teams will play a relegation round (play- out ), the two last placed athlete must participate in the League Relegation against the two semi-final winners of the 1st league.

Expulsion
The two last placed the Extraliga - relegation round and the two semi-final winners of the 1st League playoffs meet in the relegation between League Extraliga and 1. The two winners of the relegation play in the following season in the Extraliga.
