2012–13 Ligue 2

The season 2012/13 Ligue 2 began on 10 August 2012 and ended on 24 May 2013. It was the 74th staging of the second highest French football league. As relegated from Ligue 1 SM Caen, the FCO Dijon and Auxerre were added, from the third division rose Olympique Nimes, Chamois Niort and Gazelec FCO Ajaccio on. From the name fro the second division was heavily engaged in this season: 18 of the 20 teams have been members in the past, the top division; only for Ajaccio and Clermont a climb at the end of this season would have been a first.

Several second-division clubs were after their final balance sheet at 30 June 2012 heavily in debt at the top Racing Lens ( 17.7 million euros ), relegated AJ Auxerre ( 16.4 million ), FC Nantes ( 12.1 million ) and Le Mans FC ( 7.5 million). During the 2012/13 season and the CS Sedan ran into financial difficulties in the order of 6 million euros.

The first decision and losers had fallen after the 35th matchday: Ajaccio had to return after only one season in the third division. After the 36th Round Sedans were also down as well as Monaco's ascent mathematically determined, according to the 37th with Guingamp Nantes and the other two future first division, so that only the question of the third relegation was only decided on the final day. This Laval kept against Le Mans the better end for themselves.
