2012–13 Rugby-Bundesliga

In rugby league 2012/13, 48 teams played in two planes into four regional groups. The season started on 25 August 2012 and ended with the German championship on June 15, 2013, interrupted by a winter break November 25, 2012 to March 3, 2013. The regular season ended on 1 May 2013. Overview

The league was radically changed at the end of the season 2011/2012. In the season 2011/2012 a further 10 teams played in a league in a " Free-for -All " principle with a semifinal and a final at the end. With the start of the 2012/2013 season the league has been expanded and divided into several phases. Playing in the 1st and 2nd league in each Regional Group 6 teams, ie 24 per league and a total of 48 for the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga total. The Berlin Grizzlies and the reserve of the USB Potsdam formed a syndicate in the 2nd Bundesliga. The DRV Hanover withdrew from the 1st Bundesliga before the first game back and had to start in the 2012/13 season in the third league.

The first phase, the Regional Preliminary Round, ended on 3 October 2012. Subsequently, the qualification phase began in the three cups Meisterrunde, DRV Cup and League Cup. The top four teams from each of the 1st Bundesliga regional group qualified for the champions round. The two behind the 1st Bundesliga and the best two of the 2nd Bundesliga qualified for the DRV Cup and the rear four teams in the 2nd Bundesliga played in the League Cup. In the second phase was not playing each regional group for itself, but North and East were in a squadron and the South and West in a second season.

In the second phase was after " Free-for -All " played principle, in which results of the teams have played against each other in the first round already been taken. All teams qualified automatically for the third phase, the knockout stage.

Due to the expansion of the league had to rise at the end of the 2011/12 season no team. However, it increased to 12 teams.

Two teams finished the regular season undefeated. The finale was the Heidelberger RK decide with 41-10 against SC New Home for itself.

Phase 2 - Qualifying Round

In the second phase play 16 teams in two seasons with 8 teams. Each team plays against the other. If already held the Begnung in the first phase, the game will not be played again, but accepted the result. All teams this phase are qualified for the knockout stage.

  • The TV Pforzheim was punished with a point deduction of 2 points because of missing youth teams from the DRV.
  • The home game of the SC 1880 Frankfurt against SC New Home ended 15-59, but was changed in the later 50-0 for Frankfurt, as Neuenheim has used two non- eligible players.
  • The home match of the RG Heidelberg against RC Mainz did not take place because of Mainz won the Game canceled due to lack of players. The game was evaluated with 50-0 for Heidelberg.

Phase 3 - KO Round

Elimination round of the Masters Round

In the third phase, 16 teams play a knockout round. The winner of a game comes on, the loser is eliminated. First, the teams from north-east to play against teams from South -West. The knockout round began on 4 May 2013, 16 teams, followed by the quarterfinals on May 25, 2013, the semi-final on June 1, 2013, and the final of the German Cup on June 15, 2013.
