2012 BMW Open

The BMW Open 2012 was a tennis tournament, which took place in Munich on 30 April to 6 May 2012. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2012 and was discharged on clay court. In the same week the Estoril Open, and were played in Belgrade, the Serbia Open in Estoril, which included just like the BMW Open to Category ATP World Tour 250.

In single Nikolay Davydenko stepped up to defend their title, but already retired on the first lap. In this year's finals Marin Cilic met local hero Philipp Kohlschreiber. Kohlschreiber won through in straight sets and triumphed for the second time after 2007 in Munich. This was the fourth ATP singles title of his career, while the third on German soil. Čilić however, lost after 2010 for the second time the finals of Munich. Was the biggest surprise of the tournament of a wild card launched Tommy Haas, who defeated the top-seeded Jo -Wilfried Tsonga, among other things, and since July of 2009 reached an ATP semifinal for the first time.

In double Simone Bolelli and Horacio Zeballos won last year the title, but they took this year will not participate in the tournament. In this year's final the top-seeded Frantisek Cermak and Filip Polášek won in straight sets against Xavier Malisse and Dick Norman. This was almost a year after her first her now fourth joint ATP title. For Cermak it was the 27th ATP title of his career, for Polášek the ninth.

The field of the individual competition consisted of 28 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. The four top-seeded player in singles each got a bye into the second round.
