2012 European Allround Speed Skating Championships

The 108 speed skating all-around European Championship ( 37 women ) was held in Budapest, Hungary, from 6 to 8 January 2012. The competitions were held in an open air ice rink in the city park, so that wind and changing temperatures played a role.

In the women's defending champion Martina Sáblíková again won the title. They overtook her fourth victory in all-around European Championships. Silver went to Claudia Pechstein, who still vorbeizog over the final 5,000 meters to Ireen Wüst won the bronze. In the men's Sven Kramer sat by sovereign and won his fifth title overall. The silver medal went to his compatriot husband Jan Blokhuijsen, bronze at Håvard Bokko.

  • 51 athletes, 23 women and 28 men, participated in the championship. A total of 17 nations were represented.

Competition

In the all-around Europe Cup is over four distances. The women run 500, 3,000, 1,500 and 5,000 meters and the men's 500, 5,000, 1,500 and 10,000 meters. Any spilled Single Track Time is downscaled to seconds and added to 500 meters. The sum gives the total number of points.
