The 111th French Open took place from 27 May to 11 June 2012 in Paris, France.
Defender of the single were Rafael Nadal in the men's and Li Na in the women. In the men's doubles were Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor, in women's doubles Andrea Hlaváčková and Lucie Hradecká the defending champions. Casey Dellacqua and Scott Lipsky was the defending champion in mixed doubles.
Nadal successfully defended his title in the final against Novak Djokovic, and thus became the sole record winner at Roland Garros. Maria Sharapova crowned her career by winning the French Open and the associated career Grand Slam. In the men's doubles were as in the previous Mirny and Nestor win, celebrated in the women's Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci her first Grand Slam title. In mixed the Indians Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi could leave the competition behind.
Also worth mentioning is the semi-finals of Antonia Lottner and win the tournament by Annika Beck in the junior field.
