2012 ISU World Team Trophy in Figure Skating
The World Team Trophy 2012 was held from 19 to 22 April 2012 in the Japanese capital Tokyo instead.
It was the second edition of the World Team Trophy by 2009. Should take place in Tokyo in 2011, but had to be canceled due to the Tōhoku earthquake.
Qualifies were the best six nations of the season, Japan ( 7891 points ), Canada ( 6943 ), Russia ( 6807 ), United States ( 6399 ), Italy ( 5412 ) and France ( 5214 ).
Japan won the World Team Trophy for the first time, sparking the USA as the defending champion from. The United States finished second. The bronze medal went to Canada, which was tied with France and only due to the better peak position was forward.
Daisuke Takahashi reached with 94 points points an unofficial world record in the short program.
