2012 Meistriliiga

The Meistriliiga 2012 was the 22nd season of the highest Estonian football league of gentlemen. It was played from March 10 to November 3, 2012. As defending champions FC Flora Tallinn kicked off the season. However, the title from the previous year could not defend the club. The Estonian Championship 2012 was won by JK Nõmme Kalju prematurely.

Course of the season

The league consisted of 10 teams as last season. Current title holder was the record champions FC Flora Tallinn. Up from the Esiliiga JK Tallinna Kalev was, FC Kuressaare remained after the relegation games in the Meistriliiga after the club against FC Infonet Tallinn was able to prevail.

The championship will be played in a regular season in 2 -way 2 back round games. Each team occurs four times against any other team. The-table descends into the second-class Esiliiga, the 9th place finisher playing in the Relegation. In case of equality is one of the direct comparison.

The opening game of the new season was held between the JK Nõmme Kalju and FC Levadia Tallinn. The game which was broadcast live by the Estonian TV channel TV6, ended in a 0-0 draw. The defending champions Flora Tallinn who had earlier won the Supercup against the JK Trans Narva could also decide the 1st season game of the new season against last year's fifth JK Kalev Sillamäe 2-0 for itself. In the rest of the season to Nõmme Kalju sat top of the table followed by flora and Levadia. With three games left in the season to Nõmme secured with a 1-0 away win in a catch-up game at FC Kuressaare with a goal by Kristen Viikmäe the first championship in club history. As a sports relegated to the Esiliiga JK Tammeka Tartu was already clear, however, was able to stay through the relegation of FC Viljandi in the Meistriliiga. In the relegation JK Tallinna Kalev had against the JK Tarvas Rakvere and winning this. Scorer with Vladislav Ivanov for the first time since the 2007 again a Russian.

Expulsion

At the end of the regular season, the ninth -placed of the Meistriliiga ran against the runner-up of Esiliiga in the relegation. The games were held on 11th and 17th November 2012. Matchday 33 of Esiliiga - season 2012, the JK Tarvas Rakvere could qualify for the play-offs against the JK Tallinna Kalev. The JK Tallinna won the two games for himself and played in the following Meistriliiga season of 2013 in the Estonian elite league.
