2012 Open 13

The Open 13 2012 was a tennis tournament which took place in Marseille from 20 to 26 February 2012. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2012 and was held in the indoor hard courts. In the same week the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships and played in Buenos Aires Copa Claro in the Memphis. The latter counted just like the Open 13 to Category ATP World Tour 250, while the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships belonged to Category ATP World Tour 500.

The defending champion in singles, Robin Soderling, could not compete due to illness. In the final, Juan Martín del Potro sat down in straight sets to Michaël Llodra by. This was the tenth ATP title of his career and the first in an indoor tournament. For Llodra, however, it was his third Marseille- finals, the second defeat, after he had lost the finals in 2009 and won the title in 2010. Caused a stir of the 20 -year-old Albano Olivetti, who reached the quarterfinals as a qualifier in his ATP debut, including, inter alia, to set at position 2 top 10 player Mardy Fish defeated.

In doubles Robin Haase and Ken Skupski were the defending champions, but Skupski came into this year with a new partner and was eliminated in the semifinals with this. The tournament victory went to the purely French pair Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger -Vasselin, who prevailed in the final against Jo -Wilfried Tsonga and Dustin Brown. This was her second common ATP title after they had only three weeks previously celebrated in Montpellier their first triumph at an ATP tournament. For Roger -Vasselin it was also the second ATP title at all, while Mahut has now won during his career total of five titles with different partners.

The field of the individual competition consisted of 28 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. The four top-seeded player in singles each got a bye into the second round.
