2012 Rally México

The 26th Rally Mexico was held from 8th to 11th March 2012. A total of 22 special stages (two canceled ) on gravel.

Reports

Day 1 ( Thursday, March 8 )

Petter Solberg (Ford) won the qualification before Mikko Hirvonen ( Citroën) and Sébastien Loeb ( Citroën). The winner of the qualification, the starting position is allowed to select the first special stage, Solberg chose the number 14

Day 2 (Friday, 9 March),

Solberg (Ford) and Jari -Matti Latvala (Ford) took over at the start of the rally lead. However, both had a puncture and lost time. In Latvala also the suspension was damaged. After eight stages Loeb led 4.5 seconds ahead of Hirvonen (both Citroën) and Mads Østberg (Ford). Latvala took on some time he lacked after the second day of the rally 1.19,9 minutes on the top, which meant fourth place.

Day 3 ( Saturday, March 10 )

Loeb extended his lead further and was almost half a minute ahead of Hirvonen in the lead. Bad luck again Latvala, who again had a puncture. Jari -Matti Latvala still worked his way up to third place, but he had more than two minutes behind Sébastien Loeb in the evening.

Day 4 ( Sunday, March 11 )

On the fourth day, Loeb was not to take the sixth victory in the Rally Mexico. Hirvonen remained at rank 2 and Petter Solberg was third. Latvala rolled over on the special stage " Guanajuatito " ( 54.3 kilometers ) and Evgeny Novikov (Ford) did the same. Solberg secured the three additional championship points thanks to the victory in the Power Stage. After three runs Loeb leads with 66 points, ahead of Hirvonen (50) Solberg (47) Østberg (28) and Latvala (26 ) in the championship.
