2012 Rallye de France

The 3rd Rallye de France (Alsace ) was held until October 7, 2012 from 4. A total of 22 special stages were planned, one (WP 12) had to be canceled due to overcrowded auditoriums. The Rallye de France was driven on asphalt.

Day 1 ( Thursday, October 4 )

In the first and only special stage ( 3.36 km ) on Thursday Thierry Neuville ( Citroën) was in the lead. They were followed by Jari -Matti Latvala (Ford) and Dani Sordo ( MINI). The first ten classified were within 4.2 seconds.

Day 2 ( Friday, October 5 )

After four of 22 special stages, Sébastien Loeb ( Citroën) was in the lead, followed by Latvala in a Ford Fiesta. In WP 4 Latvala made ​​a mistake and lost some time. Petter Solberg (Ford) was faster and worked his way to fourth place before he was after WP 7, only two seconds behind Mikko Hirvonen ( Citroën). Solberg met in WP 9 a power masts, he lost this time and the village was without electricity for several hours. The three-mile- long WP 8 in Mulhouse Latvala won, he was at the end of the day, 13.1 seconds behind Loeb.

Day 3 ( Saturday, October 6 )

Loeb continued in the special stages 9-11 more and more from the competition and managed to prominence during the WPs 13-16. Since Thierry Neuville was published too late for the start of WP 11, he was given a sentence of 20 seconds. Dani Sordo came by it on the fourth and Mads Østberg to fifth place. Østberg overtook Sordo until the evening. In the WP 10 came Nasser Al- Attiyah ( Citroën) on the runway, injuring two spectators. One of them had a broken leg, the other to complain about a broken arm. The special stage 12 had to be canceled because the organizers spectator safety was no longer guaranteed. The viewing rooms were crowded.

Day 4 ( Sunday, October 7 )

By Sunday morning came the rain. Neuville won five of six stages, a WP victory went to Ott Tanak (Ford). Loeb / Elena had the time intervals under control. They won the home event and the world title in 2012. The duo celebrated the ninth world championship win as many as no one before. Citroën DS3 won with the manufacturers' championship in 2012.
