The Tippeligaen 2012 was the 68th season of Norway's highest football league and the 22nd season under the name Tippeligaen. It began on 23 March 2012 with the role of reigning champions Molde FK against Strømsgodset IF ( 2-1) and ended on 18 November 2012 with the 30th game day.

Teams and mode
The 16 teams of the season consisted of the 14 clubs in the places 1 to 14 of the preseason and the two climbers Hønefoss BK and Sandnes Ulf from Adecco Ligaen 2011. They played in home and away matches against each of the master and relegated. The Master takes as last season 's UEFA Champions League part 2013/14 and the second and third place in the UEFA Europa League 2013 / 14th
For the new season, the club Stabæk IF returned to his old homestead, the Nadderud Stadium, back. When FK Haugesund - as in the preseason - approved by the Norwegian Football Association safety reasons, only 3,904 of the 8,800 seats in Haugesund Stadium.
Course of the season

The Fourteenth Sandnes Ulf played two games against relegation Ullensaker / Kisa IL, the winner of the promotion round to the second-rate Adecco Ligaen.
