The 12th stage of the Tour de France 2012 took place on 13 July 2012 and led from Saint -Jean -de- Maurienne - Annonay by Davézieux. With a length of 226 kilometers, there were two climbs of the first category and the third category.

Route

From Saint- Jean -de- Maurienne (500m) led the route in predominantly west to Annonay - Davézieux by the departments of Savoie, Isère, Drôme and Ardèche. After 21.5 kilometers began in Saint -Pierre -de- Belleville ( 362 m ), the first rise in the 1st category Col du Grand Cucheron ( 1188 m). After 71 kilometers began in Chapareillan (289 m) of the climb to the Col du Granier ( 1134 m). Then it went on descending terrain towards Annonay - Davézieux where on the road at kilometer 153, an intermediate sprint in Marcilloles has been removed. Race course

14 kilometers after the start formed a breakaway group of 19 riders who rode out a lead of about 1:30 minutes in the valley of the Arc. This group included, among others, the Croat Robert Kišerlovski, Briton David Millar and Frenchman Cyril Gautier and Jean -Christophe Peraud. In the ascent to the Col du Grand Cucheron were individual drivers from the top group, while the field aufteilte itself. The Mountain Price won Kišerlovski before Peraud. David Moncoutié, who had found between the tip and field, crashed heavily on the descent and had to abandon the race after medical treatment.

At the beginning of the ascent to the Col du Granier were still eleven riders in the lead, 50 seconds ago Egoi Martínez, who was ausgerißen from a chasing group. A few kilometers later joined Martínez on the top. At the pass still went ahead five drivers: in addition Kišerlovski who decided these mountains classification itself, these were Peraud, Martínez, Gautier and Millar. About 50 kilometers before the finish was the maximum protrusion 13 minutes, after which it decreased slightly. Kišerlovski also won the third mountain stage. Four kilometers from the finish started Martínez first an attack, but did not decisively away.
