2012 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships

The 25th World Mountain Bike Championships were held from August 29 to September 9, 2012 in Leogang and Saalfelden sea in Austria. Austria was after the 2002 Championships in Kaprun and Zell am See for the second time hosted the Mountain Bike World Championships. There were decisions in the disciplines of Cross Country, Downhill, Four Cross and Trials on the program. Compared to the last World Championships in 2011 were awarded with the competitions in Cross Country Eliminator for men and women and the Trials mixed- team competition three more titles. For this reason and because of the division into two venues, the WM program was first extended to twelve days.

Overall, more than 750 riders from 47 nations took part in the World Championships. Ahead of the World Cup, the organizers had expected 30,000 spectators at the end were over 43,500 to the competitions. Approximately 600 volunteers attended the event in use. For this, the organizers had a budget of 1.4 million euros.

On August 29, 2012 at 19:00 clock the Mountain Bike World Championships were officially opened on the town hall square in Saalfelden. After a few introductory remarks by the 2nd State Deputy Governor, David Brenner, the mayors of Saalfelden ( Günter difference) and Leogang ( Helga Hammerschmied - Rathgeb ), as well as an official representative of the UCI, marched all nations with their World Cup participants an in the town square. Cross Country Eliminator
