2012 VTR Open
The VTR Open 2012 was a tennis tournament, which was held in Viña del Mar on 30 January to 5 February 2012. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2012 and was discharged on clay court. In the same week the Open Sud de France, and were played in the PBZ Zagreb Zagreb Indoors in Montpellier, who scored just like the VTR Open to Category ATP World Tour 250.
The tournament was held in Santiago de Chile in the years 2010 and 2011, before it had already occurred from 2001 to 2009 in Viña del Mar. Last year's winner in the singles, Tommy Robredo, could not compete to defend his title due to injury. The title was awarded to the top-seeded Argentine Juan Mónaco, could hold his own in the final in three sets against his compatriot Carlos Berlocq.
In double Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares were the defending champions, but they played this year both with new partners, and to divide with each of these, in the quarter- finals. Tournament winners were the unseeded Frederico Gil and Daniel Gimeno -Traver by a final win in three sets against Pablo Andújar and Carlos Berlocq.
The field of the individual competition consisted of 28 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. The four top-seeded player in singles each got a bye into the second round.
