2013–14 Coppa Italia

The Coppa Italia 2013/14 is the 67th edition of the most important Italian Cup competition. It began on August 3, 2013 with the first round and will end on May 3, 2014, the final in the Olympic Stadium of Rome. As defending champion starts Lazio.

The winner of the season is 2014/15 and the Italian Supercup in 2014 qualified directly for the group stage of the Europa League.

Mode

Participating teams

At the tournament take part in a total of 78 clubs from the Italian football. These are distributed as follows among the various leagues:

  • The 20 clubs in Serie A 2013/14
  • The 22 clubs in the Serie B 2013/14
  • 25 clubs in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione 2013/14, of which: four relegated to the Serie B 2012/13
  • The 15 best teams did not ascend the Lega Pro Prima Divisione 2012/13
  • Lega Pro Seconda six climbers of the Divisione 2012/13

Tournament mode

  • In the first round, all clubs in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione, Lega Pro Seconda Divisione and Serie D compete against each other. The 18 best club in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione are set as the home team.
  • In the second round, all clubs in the Serie B and the winners of the first round compete against each other. The 20 best clubs in the Serie B are set as the home team.
  • In the third round, the twelve worst clubs in the Serie A and the winners of the 2nd round will compete against each other. The twelve clubs in the Serie A are set as the home team.
  • In the fourth round, all winners of the third round will compete against each other. The winners of the eight pairings with the previous eight best clubs in the Serie A are set as the home team.
  • In the second round, the top eight clubs in the Serie A and the winners of the 4th round will compete against each other. The eight best teams in Serie A are set as the home team.
  • In the quarterfinals, all winners of the second round will compete against each other.
  • In the semifinals, all winners of the quarter-finals will compete against each other. This is the only round in the return matches will be played. In these, the away goals rule.
  • In the final, the two winners of the semi finals will compete against each other. This takes place in the Olympic Stadium Rome.
