2013–14 NLA season

The season 2013/14 is the seventh regular time after the renaming of the former Swiss National League A in National League A. New in the league is the NLB Master Lausanne HC, the SCL Tigers defeated in the League qualification. The team from Langnau im Emmental thus rose from the National League B. The season began on 12 September with the early game ZSC Lions against Fribourg- Gottéron and ended on March 4, 2014., The play-offs and play- outs began on 11 March 2014.

Mode

Be played by the 12 teams two double rounds of 22 games. There are additional per team of six matches against three opponents, on the basis of a regional division (East, Central, West ) are fixed. Overall, therefore, denies any team's 50 qualifying matches. After that, the best eight teams determine the Swiss champion in the play-off style. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played on the mode best -of-seven.

Play -out

Mode

When the play -out mode it was against the preseason a change. Here, the first round of the play -out is replaced by a relegation round of the four teams in ninth through twelve. The teams take on the points from the main round with in the relegation round.

After the relegation round, which amounts to six games, determine the two clubs on the places eleven and twelve in the Best of Seven mode the last placed the NLA, it must then deny the League qualifier against the champions of NLB.

League qualifier

On January 11, 2014, the second outdoor game of the NLA 's history took place in the Stade de Genève. Here, the Genève -Servette HC went against his rival Lausanne HC at .. The game ended with a 1-0 win after extra time for the guest of Lausanne, where Oliver Setzinger scored the only goal. It was not the first meeting of this kind, on January 14, 2007 have affected the SC Bern and SCL Tigers each other at the Stade de Suisse.
