2013–14 UEFA Europa League

The UEFA Europa League 2013/14 is the 43rd edition of the second most important competition for European football clubs, which took place up to the 2008/09 season under the name of the UEFA Cup. The competition is taking part again this season 194 clubs from all 53 national associations of UEFA.

The season began with the first leg of the first qualifying round on July 2, 2013, and ends with the final on 14 May 2014 Turin Juventus Stadium, the home of Juventus.

Qualification

First qualifying round

  • Participants: 76 teams, including three were fair play qualifiers: Sweden Gefle IF ( winner of the Fair Play rankings )

Second qualifying round

  • First leg: on July 18, 2013
  • Second leg matches: on July 25, 2013
  • Participation: 80 Teams, including the 38 winning teams of the first qualifying round

Third qualifying round

  • Draw: July 19, 2013 in Nyon
  • First leg: August 1, 2013
  • Second leg matches: August 8, 2013
  • Participation: 58 Teams, including the 40 winning teams of the second qualifying round

Playoff Round

  • Draw: August 9, 2013 in Nyon
  • First leg: August 22, 2013
  • Second leg matches: August 29, 2013

The final round is called due to the central marketing " play-off ". In this round, the losing teams in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League came 2013/14 added.

Group stage

As in the previous year, the Cup Winners' associations 1-6 in the UEFA five year ranking qualified automatically for the group stage next to the title holder. The lot fell to APOEL Nicosia.

The group winners and runners qualified for the round of the left third and fourth-placed from the competition. Case of a tie between two or more teams after the group matches, the ranking was determined by the following criteria:

The 48 qualified for the group stage teams were divided based on their club coefficient (KK ) on four Lostöpfe each with 12 teams, drawn from every Lostopf a team in one of the 12 groups (A to L); Teams in the same association could not be drawn into the same group.

The draw was held in Monaco on 30 August.

Round of

Among the 24 teams that qualified through the group stage of the Europa League, the eight third group of the Champions League were added. The draw of the sixteenth finals took place in Nyon on 16 December 2013. The group winners from the Europa League and the four best third out of the Champions League were set here; them the rest of the teams were drawn against. It encounters were excluded between teams in the same group or the same national association. The first legs will find on February 20, instead of the return legs on 27 February 2014.

Second round

The draw for the fourth round also took place on 16 December 2013 following the draw of the sixteenth finals in Nyon. From the second round there are no seeded teams more. The final of the UEFA Europa League 2013/14 will take place on Wednesday 14 May 2014 Juventus Stadium in Turin instead.
