2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup

The CONCACAF Gold Cup 2013 was the 22nd playout of the continental championship in football for North, Central America and the Caribbean and 12 under the name " Gold Cup " and was held from 7 to 28 July in the USA.

At the tournament participated twelve teams that competed first in groups and then in the knockout system against each other. Since 1991, the United States is the sole, or in co-operation (1993 and 2003 with Mexico ), host of the tournament.

The tournament winner U.S. denies possibly against the winner of the Gold Cup 2015 play-off to take part in the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 in Russia.

Qualification

The qualification for the Gold Cup was organized by the three regional associations of the CONCACAF:

North America ( NaFu zone)

All three North American organizations (Canada, USA, Mexico) were set for the CONCACAF Gold Cup and therefore had to incur no qualifiers.

Central America ( Copa Centroamericana zone)

All seven organizations took part in the Copa Centroamericana Central American Cup 2013, which took place in January 2013 in San José, Costa Rica. The first five teams were qualified for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Could qualify:

Caribbean ( CFU- zone)

A total of 25 teams had registered for the competition. Defending champions Jamaica and hosts Antigua and Barbuda were set without qualifying for the finals. The first round of qualifying consisted of five groups of four teams. The group winners and the four best runners-up qualified for the second round. The second round of qualifying consisted of three groups of four teams. The national teams of Grenada, Guadeloupe and Cuba were already established as a secondary - to fourth-placed Caribbean Cup 2010 For the second round. The group winners and runners- qualified for the final tournament. At the final eight teams participated, of which these teams were able to qualify for the Gold Cup:

Mode

In the final round of the twelve participants formed three preliminary groups of four teams, of which the top two qualified for the quarter-finals. In addition, qualified nor the two best third-placed teams. In the group stage, each team played each of the other teams in the group after the championship mode, where one point was awarded for a win and three points for a draw.
