2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships

The 32nd European Indoor Athletics Championships were held from 1 to 3 March 2013 Scandinavium in Gothenburg. Thus, the event was held for the fourth time instead of on Swedish soil, and for the third time in Gothenburg.

Applications for the venue

Gothenburg originally applied to host the Indoor Athletics Championships 2011. After this, however, was assigned to Paris, Gothenburg instead received the award for 2013.

The Scandinavium has already been the venue for the Indoor Athletics European Championships in 1974 and 1984 and numerous other international championships in other sports such as ice hockey and handball. The City of Gothenburg was also in the past host of other major events of athletics, including the World Athletics Championships in 1995 and the European Athletics Championships in 2006.

A total of 578 athletes from 47 different countries took part in the competitions.

Pawel Trenichin had arrived in third place, but was later disqualified because he had left the train at a Strauchler. A protest raised the disqualification later.

The British team was disqualified after the race. A protest raised this disqualification again.

Pole vault

Renaud Lavillenie skipped first after Bubka, the height of 6.07 meters. Because the bar but no longer correct lay on the trailer, the jump was not recognized by the judges.
