2013 Mutua Madrid Open – Men's Singles

The Mutua Madrid Open 2013 was a tennis tournament, which took place in Madrid from 5 to 12 May 2013. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2013 and was held outdoors on sand. This season it was the fourth of nine tournaments Category ATP World Tour Masters 1000th

Defender of the single was the Swiss Roger Federer, who failed to Kei Nishikori in the second round already. The final contested by the local hero Rafael Nadal and Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland, with the Spaniard clearly won in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. For Nadal, it was the seventh final in the current year already his fifth title. With this victory he ziehte equal with Roger Federer, which relate to the tournament victory in Madrid. Both were able to win the tournament three times. In doubles, the duo Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Polish Matkowski was the defending champion, but they divorced already out in the second round. Winner of this year's event was the American brothers Bob and Mike Bryan. They won the final against Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares in straight sets and thus already celebrated their fifth tournament victory this year.

The field of the individual competition consisted of 56 players, double that of the competition from 24 pairs. The eight top-seeded player in singles or pairs in double each received a bye into the second round.

Qualification for the Mutua Madrid Open 2013 took place on May 4th and 5th 2013. From 28 participants seven qualifiers places have been played, the persons entitled to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
