2013 Open 13

The Open 13 2013 was a tennis tournament which took place in Marseille from 18 to 24 February 2013. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2013 and was held in the indoor hard courts. In the same week the U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships and the Copa Claro in Buenos Aires were played in Memphis. The latter included just like the Open 13 to Category ATP World Tour 250, while the U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships belonged to Category ATP World Tour 500.

Last year's winner in the singles, Juan Martín del Potro, this year took no further part in the tournament. This year's host was won by local favorite Jo- Wilfried Tsonga against the top-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych in three sets. For Tsonga it was after the victory of 2009 his second title in Marseille. Overall, he celebrated his tenth title on the ATP Tour. In doubles, the locals Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger -Vasselin were the defending champions, but they divorced in the semifinals. The doubles competition won this year Rohan Bopanna and Colin Fleming. For both it was the first title in Marseille. Fleming has already celebrated his second title this year after he was able to win in Auckland.

The field of the individual competition consisted of 28 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. The four top-seeded player in singles each got a bye into the second round.

Qualification

Qualifying for the 2013 Open 13 was held from February 18, 2013 from 16. Were playing four qualifiers places eligible to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
