2013 UCI Juniors Track World Championships

The UCI Track World Junior Championships 2013 were held August 7 to 11 at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, Scotland.

After a run of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in November 2012, Junior World Championships were the second international event in the velodrome. It was attended by 238 athletes from 32 countries. About 9,000 spectators watched the race on five days in the Velodrome.

On the second day of competition presented the female track four (Amy Hill, Hayley Jones, Emily Kay and Emily Nelson) from the UK to a junior world record in the team pursuit. However, it was the first time that the team pursuit with four athletes in a team - was held as before only played with three - as with the men.

Most successful national team in this World Cup was that of Australia with a total of 13 medals, including six gold, followed by the UK at number two ( six medals, three gold ) and Germany in third place ( five medals, three gold ). For the British team competitions this meant also a dress rehearsal for the Track Cycling competitions of the Commonwealth Games, the 2014 will take place at the same location.

The most successful athletes was the British Dannielle Khan, the two gold medals - in the sprint and in the 500 -meter time trial - and won a silver medal in the Keirin. The most successful German athletes was Maximilian Dörnbach who won the 1000 -meter time trial and together with Jan May and Patryk Rahn won the bronze medal in the team sprint. More gold medals for the German national team won Manuel Porzner in scratch and Anna Knauer in the Omnium. The Switzerland remained without medal success; Austrian Junior athletes were not at the start.
