2013 World Table Tennis Championships

The 58.Tischtennisweltmeisterschaft 2013 took place from 13 to 20 May 2013, at the Palais Omnisports de Paris -Bercy in Paris. Only the individual competitions were held.

The French capital was in May 2010 by the participants of the Annual General Meeting of the International Table Tennis Federation ( ITTF ) the surcharge. Paris was in the end only candidate after the Qatar Table Tennis Association withdrew his application for Doha shortly before the vote, to Paris to allow the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of the 2003 World Cup. After 1934, 1947 and 2003 Paris was the fourth time the host of the World Table Tennis Championship.

  • 449 men and 352 women from 128 nations took part in the World Cup.
  • For the first time in a World Cup reached the quarter-finals, two German, namely Patrick Baum and Timo Boll.
  • The Belgian Jean-Michel Saive denied his 22 World Cup in a row. For the first time he was represented in 1983.
  • With 51 years was the starting for Spain He Zhiwen the oldest participant.
  • Vladimir Samsonov won the Fair Play Award. Even it was unclear what he was awarded it.

  • The French Post has issued two stamps on this table tennis world championship with nominal value of 0.63 euros and 0.95 euros on 13 May 2013. The French Table Tennis Federation FFTT had since February 13, 2013 a sender franking with advertising for these World Championships in use.
