2013 World Women's Handball Championship
The Handball World Championship for Women was held in Serbia from 6 to 22 December 2013. The event was organized by the International Handball Federation (IHF ). Titleholder was Norway. The IHF was Serbia in October 2010, the commitment to the organization of the World Cup. The only opposition candidate in the application process was South Korea. World Cup 2013 Brazil was for a 22:20 victory in the final against Serbia.
According to the testimony of longtime President Hassan Moustafa IHF, the tournament was one of the most organized in the history of women's handball, which was also supported by 1375 volunteers. More than 30 TV crews made for a live broadcast in 140 countries. It's also been the most spectator Women Handbalturnier world.
During the final round of the world record was broken within a few days, three times in succession. On 22 December 2013, a new worldwide record crowd for a swept in a handball game between two women's teams was at the final game between the national teams of Serbia and Brazil set ( 19,467 spectators ). Thus, the balance sheet as at December 20 record at the semi-final match between Serbia and Poland ( 18,236 spectators ) was broken after just two days. Prior to the December 18, established record at the quarter-final match between Serbia and Norway ( 16,028 spectators ) has already been refracted after two days.
Venues
Initially, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Vrsac were provided as venues. Later, Zrenjanin has been set instead of Vršac as a venue because there were, inter alia, more hotel accommodations available.

Participant
Of the 24 participating teams were qualified as hosts Serbia and Norway as titelverteidgender World Cup 2011 directly for participation.

On 15 June 2013, the qualified teams were drawn four preliminary round groups of the final round. With the draw, the 24 teams were divided into six Lostöpfen that are broken down by cutting the qualification.

Preliminary round
The preliminary round was held from 13 December 2013 of 6. Each team played once against the other teams in the same group. For the main round, the top four teams in each group qualified. The group Fifth and sixth subsequently took part in the Presidents Cup.
In none of the 60 qualifying matches there was a draw. Group winners of the four preliminary round groups France, Brazil, Norway and Germany, which remained loss- free spot all. The most prolific actor of the preliminary round was Susann Müller, who scored 45 hits.

Presidents Cup
At the Presidents Cup, which was held on 15 and 16 December 2013, national teams took part, who could not qualify for the knockout stages itself. The six teams placed the preliminary round groups played each other from places 21 to 24, while the fifth-placed teams played at the place 17 to 20. Case of a tie at the end of the game followed by a seven-meter throw took place.

The second round games were held on 15-16. December 2013 instead. The first-placed teams of the four preliminary round groups each played against a fourth- placed team and the second-placed against the third-placed teams. The winner of each game moved into the quarterfinals of the Men's Handball World Championship 2013.
In the first group matches against fourth group all first round winners were successful, while three runners-up were eliminated in the second round.

Quarterfinals
The quarter-finals were held on 18 December 2013. The winner of each game moved into the semifinals of the Men's Handball World Championship 2013. For the first time in World Cup history were four coaches with the same nationality in the quarterfinals - Morten Soubak (Brazil ), Jan Pytlick (Denmark), Heine Jensen ( Germany ) and Kim Rasmussen ( Poland) are Danes.
Brazil continued after double overtime against Hungary by the first time and qualified for a World Cup semi-finals. Likewise reached Poland for the first time the World Cup semi-final, which threw the runner- up France from the tournament. With the defending champions Norway dropped out, another one of the favorites that were subject to the hosts Serbia. The derby between Denmark and Germany won the Scandinavians.

Semifinal
The semi-finals were held on 20 December 2013. The winner of each game are in the final of the Handball World Cup 2013.
Brazil defeated the world champion of 1997 Denmark and moved as the first Pan- African team in a World Cup final. Hosts Serbia succeeded by a success against Poland also the first time to qualify for a World Cup final.

3rd Place Match
The 3rd place match took place on 22 December 2013. Denmark won after more than 16 years back a medal at a World Cup. The Polish team reached the fourth place, the best finish in World Cup history.

Final
The finale was held on 22 December 2013. Both Brazil and Serbia, it was the first participation in a World Cup final. Brazil managed to win the first Pan-American national team's World Cup title.
