Impact on the FIFA World Ranking

The games will be counted by FIFA as friendlies and thus have a lower weighting than games at the African Cup of Nations. During winner Libya lost six places in the FIFA world rankings, the fourth-placed Zimbabwe could improve by five places. Quarter-finalists Mali deteriorated as much as 19 places. Decisive than the point gain in the Nations Cup was in most cases that points from previous African Cup regular intervals fell out of the ranking or have been downgraded in quality.
