2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships

The 15th IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships in 2014 were awarded to the Polish city of Sopot on the Baltic Sea. This was posted on November 11, 2011 announced at the World Athletics Gala IAAF in Monte Carlo. Sopot was left as the only candidate for the event, after the Croatian capital Zagreb refrained for financial reasons from the other application.

The venue was opened in 2010, Ergo Arena, which is right on the city boundary between the two three cities of Sopot and Gdansk.

Pavel Maslak ran away from the tip in a new Landesrekodzeit to the title. Behind Chris Brown won by three bronze medals and one gold for the fifth time in a row a medal at World Indoor Championships. Nery Brenes was defending in the final Last severed.

Konstantinos Filippidis remained only athlete up to and including 5,80 m without mistrial and sat down by failing Malte Mohr ( a failed attempt at 5.80m ) and Jan Kudlička (two failed attempts at 5.75 m and 5.80 m).

Long-jump

His sixth attempt gave Mauro Vinicius da Silva successfully defended the title. Before the last round he was with 8.06 m only on the sixth.

Triple Jump

Lyukman Adams, the bronze medalist of 2012, moved with his last attempt before the fourth to first place.

Shot Put

Won Like the last world indoor championships 2012 in Istanbul Ryan Whiting with the only 22 -meter surge ahead of David Storl. Tomasz Majewski could not defend his bronze medal, as in the last pass surprisingly ousted him from New Zealand Tomas Walsh to fourth place.

Heptathlon

The heptathlon consists of the disciplines 60 - meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, 60 - meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000 -meter run.

Defending champion Ashton Eaton missed his own world record by just 13 points. Pascal Behr fracture did not occur at the final 1000 -meter run.

According to their hall world records over 1500 m, 1 mile and 3000 m Genzebe Dibaba was as clear favorite in the race. After a slow first kilometer they took the lead and won in the end well before the defending champion Hellen Obiri from Kenya.

Marina Kutschina and Kamila Lićwinko waived a possible jump and tied for first place. The same height Ruth Beitia finished in third place due to a faulty test at 2.00. The two-time world champion Blanka Vlasic Hall was unable to intervene in the fight for the medals after a long injury break.
