2014 Monte Carlo Rally

The 82th Monte Carlo Rally took place from 16th to 18th January 2014. A total of 15 special stages were run on asphalt and partly on snow and ice. The reigning world champion Sébastien Ogier won the rally ahead of Bryan Bouffier and Kris Meeke.

Shakedown ( Wednesday, January 15 )

Sébastien Ogier, the Volkswagen Polo R WRC completed the 3.52 km long track to kick off the rally season in 2014 as the fastest. The Citroen driver Kris Meeke and Mads Østberg followed in second and third places.

Day 1 ( Thursday, January 16 )

With snow and rain Robert Kubica won the first and the second special stage. For new Hyundai, the rally began with the failure of Thierry Neuville. In the first special stage Neuville went off the road and collided with the rear against an electric pole, which fell over the same. The Hyundai i20 was unable to be repaired for the rest of the rally. In WP 4, the second Hyundai turned out at the wheel of Dani Sordo, because electrical problems. Bryan Bouffier took the lead with a flawless performance and the right tire choice, Robert Kubica and Kris Meeke. Ogier followed in fourth with 1:07 minutes behind.

Day 2 (Friday, 17 January)

After eight stages Bryan Bouffier was still in the lead. But Ogier came with the bad road conditions along better than on Friday and drove to second place. He reduced the gap to around 35 seconds. After a mistake by Bouffier, in the ninth special stage, Ogier took the lead. While driving across a small bridge Robert Kubica in the railing and slide to the rear forward down an embankment. Driver and co-driver were unharmed but had to abandon the rally since the car was beyond repair. After the second day Ogier was in the lead with just under 23 seconds ahead of Bouffier and about 1:30 minutes on Meeke.

Day 3 (Saturday, 18 January)

Sébastien Ogier went on Saturday against the victory after he won the WPs 12 and 13 in heavy rain. The night audit at the Col du Turini had to be neutralized due to heavy snowfall. Even the all-wheel drive vehicles had to come effortlessly through the many snow. For winning the Power Stage Jari -Matti Latvala was credited to three extra championship points, two got Ogier and a championship point went to Meeke.

Day 4 ( Sunday, January 19 )

On Sunday morning, let the first three of the Rally, Ogier, Bouffier and Meeke, celebrate at the presentation ceremony in Monte Carlo.

The station Sport 1 brought a minimum of 30 minutes long daily report everyday. ServusTV sent on Monday after the rally, a 60 - minute summary in the late evening program. Motors TV broadcasts in the week after the rally around a 45-minute summary that is repeated several times.
