2014 Tour Down Under

The 16th Tour Down Under was the first race of the UCI World Tour 2014. Took place from 21 to 26 January 2014. Two days before the start of the tour the race with the criterion People's Choice Classic was (also known as the Down Under Classic) opened, that did not count for the overall ranking. In the mass sprint of the Down Under Classic sat Marcel Kittel ( GIA) by before Andre Greipel (LTB ). The Appreciation of the tour, the Australian Simon Gerrans decided by the Australian team GreenEdge Orica ( OGE ) for the third time for themselves.

Participant

Eligible were the 18 ProTeam. In contrast to previous years, 2014 was a second team a wildcard. One was as in previous years, the team of the University South Australia ( UniSA ), the other received the Professional Continental team Drapac Cycling. Each team went with 7 riders at the start, thus the peloton included 140 drivers.
