2015 Rugby World Cup qualifying

At the final of the Rugby Union World Cup 2015, which will be held in September and October in England, take part 20 teams.

Automatically eligible to start are the top three winners of all four preliminary round groups at the World Cup 2011. For the remaining eight starting positions regional qualifying tournaments take place. Europe and America have two starting places available, Africa, Asia and Oceania each one; the last remaining starting place is determined in a Barrage.

Africa

South Africa is automatically eligible to start and not involved in the subsequent qualification process. In addition, Africa has a fixed starting point for the final disposal; another team can qualify through the Barrage.

The qualification comprises the three top divisions of the African Cup of Nations, with the winners of Division 1A of the 2014 season to qualify directly and the runner-up progressing to the Barrage. The winner of Division 1C of 2012 has the chance to advance to the 2014 Division 1A, the last placed the Division 1B of 2012 ruled out of World Cup qualification. In 2013 the winner of the Division 1B rises and protects itself so the chance of a World Cup qualifying, while the last placed the 1A Division descends and excretes.

2012

All games will be held in Gaborone ( Botswana ) between 22 and 29 July 2012. Cameroon withdrew at short notice, resulting in a change in the game plan for succession. Botswana sat down with the better points ratio against the Ivory Coast through and rose to the Division 1B.

Uganda, the last- placed team, got into the Division 1B from 2014 and is thus eliminated from the World Cup qualifiers.

2014

The winner of the 1A Division qualifies as Africa 1 for the World Cup finals, the runner moves into the Barrage. The games will take place from June 26 to July 6, 2014 at Municipal de Mahamasina stadium in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

America

Argentina is automatically eligible to start. In addition, North and South America have joined two fixed starting positions for the final disposal; it is also possible to qualify a Barrage for a third team.

The qualification procedure is as follows:

  • Canada and the United States wear 2013 two games against each other; the better team is one qualifies as America for the final competition.
  • The loser of the encounter Canada - United States carries out two games against the winner of the A tournament of the South American CONSUR. The better team qualifies as America 2 for the final round.
  • The loser of this match has the possibility to qualify a Barrage against a representative of another continent.

The qualification process begins with a Caribbean tournament March to June 2012 followed by the Division B South America. The two regional champions carry out a playoff to determine who plays against the last player of the CONSUR Division A for promotion.

Round 1A: Caribbean Championship 2012

Group A

The group winner advances to the 2nd round.

The group winners will play against the winner of Group B and 1B, a place in the round.

Group B

The overall winner advances to the 2nd round.

The group winners will play against the winner of Group A and a place in the Round 1B.

Final Round 1A

Decision-making between the two group winners; the winner plays against the winner of the round 1B.

Round 1B: CONSUR Division B 2012

The tournament winner advances to the final of Round 1, playing against Bermuda.

Final Round 1

Match between the winner of the Round 1A and 1B of the round; the winner advances to the Round 2.

Round 2

The winner of Round 1 will play against Brazil for a place in Division 1 of the CONSUR 2013.

Round 3A: CONSUR Division A 2013

The best-placed team advances to Round 4.

Round 3B

The U.S. and Canada meet in two games to one another ( Home and Away ). The winner of Round 3 is 1 for the 2015 World Championships qualify as America, while the loser advances in Round 4.

Canada qualifies with the overall result of 40:20 as one America for the World Cup finals.

Round 4

The loser of the two encounters between the U.S. and Canada plays against the top finishers of the CONSUR Division A 2013. The series includes two games (home and away ). The winner of Round 4 is 2 qualifies as America for the 2015 World Championships, while the loser advances to the Barrage.

Asia

Asia has a fixed starting point for the final disposal; In addition, there is the possibility to qualify a Barrage for a second team.

The qualification includes the top four divisions of the Asian Five Nations. The winner of the Asian Five Nations 2014 will be directly qualified for the final round, the runner advances to the Barrage. The winners of Divisions 2 and 3 of 2012 playing for the promotion to the 1st Division, the last placed Division 1 of 2012 should no longer be eligible for the World Cup qualifiers. The winner of Division 1 of 2013 participates in the Asian Five Nations in 2014, the final qualifying stage.

2012

The winners of Divisions 2 and 3 play to move up to the Division 1 of the year 2013, and thus remain in the race for the World Cup qualifiers.

The winner will advance to the top division of the year 2013, while the last placed athlete descends and thus has no chance at the World Cup qualifiers.

2013

The tournament will be held in Sri Lanka between March 31 and April 6. The winner of this division maintains the chance to be playing in the main division and still has the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup finals.

The last place team of the Asian Five Nations 2013 descends into the Division 1 and is eliminated from the World Cup qualifiers. The winner of Division 1 will replace the relegated team and plays in 2014 to take part in the World Cup finals.

2014

The winner of the Asian Five Nations 2014 Asia qualifies as one of the World Cup finals, the runner advances to the Barrage.

Europe

Automatically eligible to start are England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. Moreover, Europe has two fixed starting positions for the final disposal, while a third team advances into the Barrage Round. The qualification process comprises the Divisions 1 and 2 of the European Nations Cup from 2012 to 2014 as well as playoff games.

First round

The winners of the first round of the Division 2D and 2C in the first round clash in a playoff game. The winner advances to the second round of qualifying.

* Although Cyprus participates in Division 2C of the European Nations Cup, it is excluded as a non-member of the IRB of the World Cup qualifiers.

2nd round

In the second round the winner of the first round hits the winner of the first round of the Division 2B. The winner of this playoff comes next round.

Round 3

In the third round, the winner of round 2 meets the winner of the first round of the 2A Division, with the winner of that playoff game moves on to the fourth round.

4th Round

In the fourth round, the winner scores from round three on the winner of the Division 1B, with the winner of that playoff game further advances in the sixth round.

5th round

The fifth round included the first division of the European Nations Cup from 2012 to 2014. Georgia and Romania qualify as Europe 1 and Europe 2 directly for the World Cup. Russia moved into the sixth round before where it meets the winner of the round 4

6th round

In the sixth round of the Third Division 1A meets the winner of the fourth round. The winner of that tie advances to the Barrage Round as Europe 3.

Oceania

Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Samoa are automatically eligible to start. Oceania is also an additional launch site available to the Fiji and the winner of the Oceania Cup 2013 out among themselves.

Oceania Cup 2013

The Oceania Cup held from 6 to July 13, 2013 in Port Moresby ( Papua New Guinea) instead.

Playoff

Fiji hits the Cook Islands, the winner of the Oceania Cup 2013. The winner of the game qualifies as Oceania 1 for the World Cup 2015.
