( 2047 ) Smetana is an asteroid of the inner main belt, which was discovered at the Hamburg Observatory in Bergedorf (IAU code 029) of the Czechoslovak astronomer Luboš Kohoutek on 26 October 1971.

The asteroid belongs to the Hungaria group: Characteristic of this group is, among other things, the 9:2 - orbital resonance with the planet Jupiter. The namesake for this group is the asteroid (434 ) Hungaria. The eccentricity of ( 2047 ) Smetana is small with rounded 0.0035, so that its orbit around the sun is quite close to an ideal circular path. She is still significantly lower than that of all the planets in the solar system. For comparison, the Earth's orbit at an eccentricity of 0.0167. The sun orbit of the asteroid, however, is strongly inclined more than 25 ° to the ecliptic of the solar system.

( 2047 ) Smetana was named after the composer Bedřich Smetana on 1 July 1979. Also named in 1985 by Bedřich Smetana is an impact crater on the southern hemisphere of the planet Mercury: Mercury crater Smetana.

Moon S/2013 ( 2047 ) 1

From October 31st to November 14, 2012 at 741 photometric observations of Brian D. Warner at ( 2047 ) Smetana has been found at Palmer Divide Observatory in Colorado that the asteroid has a companion, which has about one-fifth of its size. Both bodies orbit a common center of gravity in 22.43 (± 0.02) hours. The companions received the provisional designation S/2013 ( 2047 ) 1
